Hiatus

I'm sure by now you've heard of "going on hiatus" am I right? Most sites do that if they want to release a new version to their site. Your probably thinking, "Wow my site isn't doing that great. I think I'm going to close it for a while and wow everybody!"

There are some problems with that. Most people think that by closing the site and then after a couple of months, open it again, they will gain 100% more visitors. Well as a matter of fact, that isn't bound to happen, sorry to say. Unless your site is as big as sites like Eeveeshq or Serebii, your visitors might not come back. Once you go on a hiatus, it's hard to get visitors back. They forget about your site and find other cool sites to visit. No site owner wants that!

Also once your on hiatus, it's extremely hard to get out of. You get lazier since you don't need to update daily. Now this doesn't apply to all people. Just most. (please don't take offense to that!) Let's just say, if you make a deadline, you most likely won't be ready to open your site by then. However, eager webmasters who are all excited to release a new version to their site, might follow their deadlines and open their site quickly. Not as likely as someone who is sick of updating/has no motivation will.

Those are the things that are most likely to happen. If you really want a new version of your site, leave your site as it is and make the new layout and test it out on a "testing page" where noone can see it. Then when your done, you can transfer that coding and stuff to your home page and tadah! Your new version

However, if you still want to go on hiatus, go ahead. I'm not stopping you at all. Or telling you what to do. I'm just suggesting to not go on hiatus. Usually nothing good happens.

Please don't think I'm bad or anything >< Just trying to help!

Hopefully you found this article helpful perhaps?
